Welcome!

Thank you for visiting Dalyellup Permaculture.

Essentially, permaculture attempts to answer the question, 'How can we live on this planet, yet at the same time leave the biosphere in a more productive and healthy state than we found it.'

We are eager to establish ties with like-minded people within the community, so please don't be shy to contact us. Reciprocal links are welcome!

What is 'permaculture'?

Permaculture (a word originally derived from permanent agriculture) is both a design philosophy and a lifestyle. Today, permaculture encompasses all aspects of human endeavour (not only argriculture) and hence it is rather understood to mean "permanent culture" (i.e. sustainable/perpetual culture). It provides an approach to work with nature -- rather than against it -- to create human habitats that resemble natural ecosystems. Permaculture encompasses farming, landscaping, gardening, the built environment, energy use, water use, transport, investment, community, etc.

Permaculture is scalable

Whether you own a 400 square metre cottage block in a modern subdivision, or a large farm in the outback, permaculture principles apply equally.

Born during the oil crisis of the 1970s, permaculture brings together the best of Nature and human endeavour to make most of dwindling resources and an increasingly fragile climate.

What is even more, if all town planning decisions were made along permaculture principles it would create much more resilient communities that will be less vulnerable to future oil shocks and climate change.
