Dalyellup Permaculture
Stability through diversity
About Us

Pierre Marx started Dalyellup Permaculture as a home-based business in May 2009.

Pierre is a qualified electrical engineer and holds a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC). His aspirations are not only to vigourously promote practical sutainable living via the 'permaculture way', but also to help his community attain self-reliance in the face of climate change and peak oil.

To this end, Pierre aims to get a Transition Town initiative off the ground, or be involved in the establishment of an initiate, in 2009/10. For this he needs your help! From the highest qualified to the most innocent child, you can help. All that is needed is a willingness to co-operate with others and a true desire to see Dalyellup and surrounding communities make the transformation from blind oil-dependancy to self-reliance and resilience.

Please contact us if you want to find out more, or if your are willing to team up with Pierre to attain this goal.

Difficult Twins

As we see things, two of the most important challenges that humans will be facing in the 21st century are the 'difficult twins' of climate change and peak oil.

Most people have heard about climate change before, having seen films such as The Inconventient Truth. Al Gore succeeded in bringing across the message of climate change without resorting to scare mongering. The movie lacks greatly in the solutions department though. Is replacing incadescent lamps with compact fluorescents, or trading your old car for a shiny new Toyota Prius, going to save the planet? Certainly not!

And peak oil, what is this business all about? In essence, we have built our entire modern society on the back of the abundant availability of cheap oil. But things are about to change. Quite dramatically: we are running out of the stuff.
